DEADLINE European Premiere Kicks Off in Italy
On November 19, the European premier of Deadline (The Reign of Impunity) kicked off with 2 successful screenings in Modena, Italy. With 18 scheduled screenings in 7 European countries, the European tour of the film is being sponsored by the International Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICCHRP) and IBON Europe to raise awareness regarding the dismal state of human rights in the Philippines.

IBON Europe, a south-north solidarity and advocacy organization, successfully hosted a roundtable on food sovereignty and climate change on October 25, 2011 in Brussels, Belgium. Attended by representatives of 12 development and solidarity organizations, the roundtable created a cross-network dialogue space that discussed a southern advocacy framework on food sovereignty and climate change policy development in the North.

As proceedings begin against Iceland’s former Prime Minister, Geir Haarde, for the banking crisis of 2008, at least two thousand Icelanders took to the streets in two days of protest this weekend. Iceland joins over a dozen other nations protesting economic measures taken out on the public while banks and large corporations receive bailouts. Class war is on, and it’s gone global.
